Update - January, 2020.
I have reorganized all photos on this site. Organization is as follows:
- All astrophotos go in to one of 3 galleries: Galaxies, Globular Clusters, or Nebulae. Within these galleries, they are arranged by catalog numbers (Messier, NGC, IC,etc). I have cleaned these galleries up to only include my best versions of any particular target.
- New pics also go in to the Newest Pics collection, regardless of type. it is arranged from newest to oldest, based on the date I added the photo. I will try to keep this collection small, deleting older photos as I add new ones.
- The Messier Objects collection is just that: a filtered list of Messier targets, arranged by object number.
- The Equipment, Observatory, Moon and Planets galleries remain; I don't really do any planetary stuff, but I have recently been trying some lunar shots with the Planewave/STL11000, purely out of curiosity to see how they would turn out.
About Me:
- I am rabid about deep sky astrophotography. I image every change I get. I got my start in 2006 when I purchased a 12" LX200R scope that came with a promo DSI-Pro camera. Although the pictures I took with it were really bad, I was immediately hooked.
- Early pics were taken with a Canon 30D andthe LX200 with a piggy-backed WilliamOptics Megrez90. Most of those early pics have been replaced on this site by better versions taken later on with better equipment.
- In 2010 I moved up to an AstroTech AT8RC telescope, Losmandy G-11 mount, and a QSI583wsg ccd camera.
- In 2011, I moved from Southeastern PA to Southside Virginia where I have much darker skies, and built another two-pier observatory.
- In 2013 I bought a Titan mount (used), Planewave CK12.5, and an STL-11000 (used) to continue my quest for deep sky images. This is my main imaging scope.
- In 2017 I replaced the Megrez90 with a Stellarvue 80mm triplet, and added an ONAG to the Planewave, to get real-time focusing.
My observatory is Twin Peeks, the clear dark skies can be found here:
