NGC 4536 is an intermediate barred spiral located about 50 million light years away in Virgo. It's considered intermediate because it's not quite a barred spiral, but not quite an unbarred spiral. It also lacks the typical central bulge characteristic of spiral galaxies. The small sliver below it is NGC 4533, It is an edge-on spiral galaxy, and is over 2 times as distant, at about 103 million light years away.
