M78 is a collection of bright, diffuse reflection nebula and dark nebulae located about 1,600 light years away in Orion. It is easily visible in small scopes. The entire area is surrounded by ionized hydrogen gas, glowing red in this image.
This is a another reprocess of older data, using StarXterminator to stretch the nebula without blowing out the stars.
